29Eleven and Jammin’ 98.3 is proud to present “Fight Like A Girl,” a unique event that gets local female celebrities in “the ring” to fight on behalf of cancer research, and generate revenue to support local advocacy organizations to increase the awareness among the communities that need it most.

“African Americans have the highest mortality rate of any racial and ethnic group for all cancers combined, and for most major cancers. Death rates for all major causes of death are higher for African American men and women,” says Jasmine Johnson, co-founder of 29Eleven.

Hosted by Andrea Williams, Jammin’ 98.3 on-air personality, the event will open with a Pink Tie VIP Reception presented by United Healthcare Community Plan at 6:00pm, followed by the Main Event at 7:30pm. The Main Event will feature local celebrities getting “in the ring” such as: Lena Taylor, Wisconsin State Senator – District 4; Alta Smith, co-founder of G.R.I.N.D.; Dr. Veronica Gunn, VP population health management & payment – Children’s Hospital of WI; Kimberly Blackwell, director of compliance – Molina Healthcare and many more.

Proceeds for “Fight Like A Girl” will support the Sisters Network – Milwaukee Affiliate’s mission to increase attention toward the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community, and promote breast health best practices including screening and early detection.
