Rapper Lil Mama has been cast as Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes in the made-for-tv biopic about pop supergroup TLC. Rapper MC Lyte broke the news at a red carpet event saying, “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, but I will,” Lyte said to HipHollywood.com. “She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC’s new movie.”
The Brooklyn native, who was most recently a judge for MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, has had some very public struggles and career setbacks. The most well known being her VMA incident involving rushing the stage while Jay-Z and Alicia Keys were performing “Empire State of Mind”. Lil Mama also lost her mother to cancer in 2007.
Her album, VYP (Voice of the Young People) debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200, and spawned four singles, her most notable being “Lip Gloss”.
The unnamed TLC biopic is currently in pre-production and TLC members Chili and T-Boz will serve as consultants and executive producers for the film.
We hope that this film will give Lil Mama the boost she needs to get her career back on track!
