NBC – Bill Cosby Takes Over ‘Late Night,” Auditions The Roots For His Funeral

HuffPost Black Voices

Bill Cosby stole the show away from Jimmy Fallon during his “Late Night” appearance. He walked out and straight past Fallon, instead sitting down in the audience. He then addressed an audience member as if he were Fallon. “Good to see you,” he told this total stranger. “I’m happy to be doing the show.”

Fallon had to get his attention, but when Cosby made his way back to the stage, he instead made a line for The Roots. He asked them to play “Sweet Georgia Brown” again … and pretended to be dead. He said he was auditioning the band to play at his funeral.

It was all very strange, but it was definitely calculated. Cosby did the exact same bit on “The Tonight Show” last week. Cosby was making the late-night rounds to promote his first stand-up special in 30 years, “Far From Finished.” The special premieres November 23 at 8 p.m. EST on Comedy Central. Will he do some variation of this bit there, too?
