Calvary celebrates the Walton’s Ninth Pastoral Anniversary

“Pastor and People: Making and Equipping Disciples for Christ,” is the theme of Calvary Baptist Church’s 9th Pastoral Anniversary in honor of the Reverend Dr. John Richard Walton, Jr. and First Lady Lorrie Craig Walton on Sunday, March 27, 2011 during the 10:45 a.m. Worship Service.

Special guest preacher, Reverend Archie L. Ivy, D. Min., Pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, will bring the Word. Calvary is located at 2959 N. Teutonia Avenue and is wheel-chair accessible.

Under the Walton’s leadership of Calvary Baptist Church-Milwaukee’s oldest African American Baptist Church, intergenerational needs are being actively addressed with a very strong emphasis on child and youth development.

In addition to active involvement in Teen Pregnancy prevention and an annual Summer Day Camp that has extended from one week to a month, beginning this year on July 5th through July 29th. Through much prayer and planning, the needs of both ends of the spectrum are being addressed.

In addition to its longstanding monthly community dinner, Bible Study, Mildred Leigh-Gold Health Ministry and a revitalized Family and Fellowship Ministry, Calvary’s mission of Transforming the Community for Christ has begun.

The entire community is invited to celebrate the Walton’s 9th Pastoral Anniversary with Calvary, Milwaukee’s oldest African American Baptist Church.
