Fathers from the Milwaukee area will get the opportunity to access a wide variety of resources including talking to businesses who are hiring. A free Fatherhood Resource Fair will be presented by the Social Development Commission W-2 Program and Word of Hope Ministries.
The two programs have partnered to provide the Resource Fair that will be held Friday, June 15 from noon until 4 pm at the Wisconsin Army National Guard Armory at 4108 N. Richards Street. Among those who will be present at the fair are employers, community groups, and human service agencies. They will offer parenting workshops, health screenings and employment opportunities. Also on site will be staff from the Milwaukee County Child Support Department to conduct support case reviews and modifications.
Among employers who are confirmed to participate are Time Warner Cable, Patrick Cudahy, Columbia St. Mary’s, Wells Fargo, Carlson Tool and Mfg., In-Place Machining, and Job Corps. Fathers interested in talking with employers about potential jobs are encouraged to bring copies of their updated resume and to dress professionally.
The goal of the Fatherhood Resource Fair is to give fathers the tools they need to become fully engaged in their children’s lives. SDC W-2 and Word of Hope Ministries believe that stronger fathers mean stronger families which in turn lead to stronger communities.
