Mayor Barrett Highlights Upcoming Events Designed to Protect Homeowners Facing Financing Difficulties

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will meet with the news media on Wednesday, September 19th at 10:00 am to share information about two upcoming events at which people can get free, reliable information about foreclosure prevention.

The first of the two events takes place this coming Saturday and is sponsored by Alderwoman Milele Coggs, and Aldermen Willie Wade and Ashanti Hamilton. This housing resource fair will include information about avoiding foreclosure, buying homes, and obtaining help with home repairs. The event runs from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Public Works field facility at 3850 North 35th Street.

The second event takes place on Saturday, September 27th at the Wilson Park Senior Center, 2601 West Howard Avenue from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Sponsored by Take Root Milwaukee, Interfaith, and Milwaukee City government, this event will focus on foreclosure prevention.

We are working hard to reduce the negative impacts of home foreclosures in Milwaukee, and part of that is connecting people with the right resources so they can stay in their homes,” Mayor Barrett said. “These two events offer homeowners information that might prevent to worst outcomes.”
