Funeral chapel pioneer passes

William R. Ford was one of the founders of Northwest Funeral Chapel.

It is with the deepest regret that that Northwest Funeral Chapel announces that our beloved Mr. William R. Ford departed this life on December 22, 2011 in Milwaukee, WI. Mr. Ford was the Vice President and one of the founders of the Northwest Funeral Chapel.

As the first African American Deputy Sheriff in the State of Wisconsin, Mr. Ford served Milwaukee County for 25 years. He was a Licensed Funeral Director for over 50 years and served hundreds of families every year in Milwaukee and surrounding communities.

Mr. Ford was one of the charter members of Delta Chi Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Milwaukee YMCA Y’s Mens’ Social Club.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00AM at Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 2479 N. Sherman Blvd. in Milwaukee, WI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 12 Noon until 7:00PM at Northwest Funeral Chapel, 6630 W. Hampton Ave., Milwaukee, WI.
