America shops online and can’t find half of Wisconsin’s small businesses: 97% of shoppers look for goods and services online and 48% of Wisconsin small businesses do not have a website.

Google and partners including Wisconsin Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) want to boost business visibility through Wisconsin Get Your Business Online. The new program offers four free services:

1. An easy to build professional website

2. A customized domain name and hosting for a year

3. A local business listing on Google Places

4. Tools, resources and local events

“Small businesses drive Wisconsin’s economic engine,” said Gayle Kugler, director of the Wisconsin SBDC Network managed by UW-Extension. “It is important to continually provide them with resources and assistance so that they can grow and create jobs. The Wisconsin SBDC Network is pleased to partner with Google to offer these small business resources, which complement the training and free business counseling provided through our 12 centers around the state.”

Wisconsin Get Your Business Online kicks off with free workshops October 3 and 4, 2011, at Pritzlaff, 143 E. St. Paul Ave. in Milwaukee. Information, including registration, is available at

About the Wisconsin SBDC Network: The network provides business guidance and training to entrepreneurs through educational classes and programs at 12 centers and three specialty centers located at four-year University of Wisconsin campuses, with leadership provided through UW-Extension’s Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.
