The housing market is showing some signs in the housing recovery. We are seeing an increase in mortgage rates and it won’t be long before the housing recovery is simply referred to as housing. And, now that prices are rising most cash buyers have effectively priced themselves out of the market and there’s less incentive for these kinds of buyers.
Affordability for consumers still remains attractive although mortgage rates are up but low by historic standards. The housing recovery continues to plug along, helping the greater economy with flourishing activity in sales and affordable prices.
You may ask if homeownership is right for you? You first want to start by contacting a HUD-approved homeownership education agency. They can be a great resource in helping you navigate the home buying process and may be able to help you find FREE money, such as downpayment assistance. Questions you will have to consider include:
• Do I have a steady source of income and employment?
• Can I take on the responsibility of homeownership?
•What neighborhood would I like to live in?
•What kind of home do I want or need?
• How do I choose a real estate agent?
• Can I afford a loan?
•Am I income-qualified for any special homeownership programs like down payment assistance? Our next Home Buying Seminar will be held on Wednesdays, September 11, 18 & 25 at Central Library 733 N. 8th Street from 6:30-8:30pm. You must register in advance by calling Housing Resources Inc., at 414-461-6330 and seating is limited.
