The two-day health fair event is open to the public and will occur during the fraternity’s North Central Province
Milwaukee—(February 12, 2013)—The men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. are holding a two-day health fair, March 15-16, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. The free health fair is open to the public and will focus on five health-related issues, including, cardiovascular illnesses, cancer, diabetes, mental health and oral health. The event is a collaboration between Kappa Alpha Psi and the Milwaukee Health Department, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Columbia St. Mary’s, the Milwaukee Men’s Health Referral Network, and other health professionals throughout the city.
“One of the fraternity’s priorities is to promote the national Healthy Kappa Healthy Communities’ Initiative that was implemented to address health and wellness among our membership, their families and surrounding communities,” said Mike Jones, president of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation in Southeast Wisconsin and coordinator of the health fair. “We are committed to helping people be armed with the knowledge and resources they need to be healthy and to live a better quality of life.”
The fair will be held in the executive ballroom at the hotel during the fraternity’s North Central Province, in which Kappa Alpha Psi members from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin gather together to discuss important business over the course of two days. During the fair, the membership and the public will have the opportunity to donate blood, learn CPR, and take blood pressure, blood glucose and Alzheimer tests. Free oral health and mental health assessments will also be given, HIV screenings, and much more.
