Milwaukee Area Technical College will offer a set of entry-level training courses in machine tool operations at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus beginning June 4 to help individuals who are interested in exploring careers in manufacturing or seek to enhance their skills in machining.
“Machine Technology” and “Elementary Machine Blueprint Reading” begin June 4. “Machine Trades Math Skills” and “Basic Shop Inspection Skills” begin June 5.
All are four-week courses. “Basic Machine Shop Operations” begins June 11 and lasts seven weeks. The projects and skills in the courses are integrated, so students are urged to register for all five offerings.
The courses are designed to help workers hone skills before entering the MATC machine tool operations technical diploma program, offer individuals new to machining exposure to the career, and provide employers an opportunity for their incumbent workers to further develop basic entry-level machining skills. A high school diploma, GED or HSED are required for enrollment.
The courses are not eligible for financial aid and do not transfer to diploma credits.
Fees range from $56.54 to $298.98 per course. Register online at www.matc.edu or at the Welcome Center at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus, 700 W. State St. For more information, call (414) 297-6239.
