Washington, DC – On Saturday, July 26, Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) will host a forum to discuss the horrific violence that plagues our community. Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Maxine Waters (CA-43) and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Marcia Fudge (OH-11) will actively participate in this conversation.

As of June 16, 2014, thus far this year, 30 children have been shot in Milwaukee, 185 total nonfatal shootings have taken place and 30 homicides have been committed. The purpose of the dialogue is to engage in a candid and constructive conservation on ways to reduce this violence, take back our streets and playgrounds and invest in our future. Members of the community will have an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with Congresswoman Moore and gun violence forum speakers.

This community forum is held in conjunction with Mayor Tom Barrett, Mothers Against Gun Violence, Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope, Milwaukee Public Theatre and Asha Family Services, Inc.
