Next Door Foundation opens its doors to the community at its 3rd annual block party

On Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Next Door Foundation located at 2545 North 29th Street will open its doors to the community at its 3RD Annual Community Block Party.

The goal of the event is to open Next Door’s doors to its neighbors and celebrate the spirit of community in the Metcalfe Park Neighborhood.

This event will be full of community resources, entertainment and family fun.

At last year’s event nearly 300 community residents participated in radio giveaways, children books giveaway, “free” lunch and an agency tour.

Event flyers will be distributed throughout Metcalfe, Concordia, and Imani Neighborhoods to over 2,000 residents and businesses.  There will also be a live radio remote, sorority and fraternity step show and concert ticket giveaway. We hope that you will partner with us for this great community event

Founded in 1969, Next Door Foundation plays a vital community role by serving more than 2,000 Milwaukee central city children, youth and families each year in our Home-based, Head Start, Early Head Start, Charter School and After – School Programs. Today, Next Door is proud to be a community anchor in the Metcalfe Park Neighborhood and home to the Educare Center of Milwaukee.

Next Door programs fall into two categories: Early Childhood Education and Community, Parent & Child Education. Early Childhood Education programs include: Early Head Start, Educare Center of Milwaukee, Head Start, Home-Based Services (Birth to Three, Healthy Beginnings), and Next Door Charter School.

Community, Parent & Child Education programs include: Books for Kids, Read with Me, Leaders of Tomorrow and Adult Basic Education.
