Question of the week: “What can we do to help reduce teen violence?”
Photos and question by Yvonne Kemp
Lillian Stricklen: “I think it starts with the parents by getting them involved in controlled activities, church and teachings that will help them to succeed in life. Also parenting classes for parents is a must.”
Ruben Hopkins: “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs; or Business, Business, Business. Young people must be engaged in a job or in business.”
Pastor Mose Fuller: “I think the way we can stop violence in our community with young people is (to) do what we can to make sure their fathers are in the home to lead and teach them how to become strong men and women. Also, as a Christian I believe that all young people must have a relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That will stop violence everywhere because Christ is love.”
LaTorya (Tory) Willingham: “(We can) cultivate their importance within their home life, educational system and community holistically.”
