My name is Radolph ‘Ray’ Matthews, Jr. I am running to be the new 10th District County Supervisor. I have been a long time resident of Milwaukee County. I feel it is my calling to lead the change in Milwaukee’s mighty 10th District.
“As a native Milwaukeean, I was baptized and grew up a member of Ebenezer COGIC on Milwaukee’s north side. I was educated in both private and public schools within Milwaukee County. I participate in Beckum-Stapleton Little League Baseball as a youth.
“I also, coach and train youth in Gracie Jujitsu at Red Schafer Mixed Martial Arts. I oversee youth programming at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center at King Park . I earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Springfield College and a Master’s of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
“In Milwaukee County, I am affiliated with various community organizations by membership involvement or have served on numerous community.
“Currently, I am a supervisor with Milwaukee County Parks, Recreation
and Culture at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
“Prior to being a Milwaukee County employee at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and serving as a King Advisory member for several years as a volunteer, I organized the Annual Community Back-to-School Backpack give away area, giving out in excess of 5,000 to 8,000 book bags per year.
“For 11 years, I’ve been married to Daniela. As a team, my wife and I spend the majority of our time raising our four amazing children: Radolph III, Nile, N’kya and Naim while teaching them the values of family, education and community service.
“As a Milwaukee County resident, 10th District native and a family man working in the community, I am continuously confronted with the struggles and hardships that many of our loyal community members, as well as the nation, are faced with daily.
“With my extensive ties, personal and professional experience with families, community service and education, I promise I will show and prove what dedication means to the residents in the 10th District. Once elected,
“I will focus on five critical areas in the 10th District: Jobs, community safety, transportation, education and community health care.
“Therefore, it seems only necessary for me to represent the community as your listening and active 10th District County Board Supervisor. “I look forward to the opportunity and partnership of being part of the solution to some very real problems our residents face in Milwaukee County.”
