Quarles & Brady LLP and the Fellowship Open were awarded the 2012 Community Service Award by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Milwaukee on September 27. The Fellowship Open has been providing groups serving the underserved with needed funds since 2001 and seeks to support organizations that are making a meaningful and demonstrable difference in the lives of youngsters in Milwaukee. To date, the Fellowship Open, founded by John W. Daniels, Jr., Chairman of Quarles & Brady LLP, has raised more than $700,000 for Milwaukee area organizations supporting youth and education.
In 2012, the Fellowship Open awarded the MCSO’s signature program, Shop with a Cop, one of eight pledges of financial support from this year’s fundraising efforts. Darlene Austin, Director of Diversity and Employee Relations for the Firm, accepted the Community Service Award on behalf of the Fellowship Open and Chairman Daniels.
In addition to providing agencies with needed funds, the Fellowship Open also leads young men and women to their “doors of opportunity” through a series of mentoring programs. Young people and business and civic leaders meet to discuss the possibilities for their bright futures, inspiring those youngsters with living examples and realistic hopes of what they can achieve. In the twelve years that the Fellowship Open has been in existence, it has highlighted and contributed to organizations that are having a real impact on kids in the city.
