Shop for a Cure at BON-TON to support breast cancer research

MILWAUKEE, WI. (October 13, 2011) The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) has officially kicked-off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with special promotions to support breast cancer research. The Pink Shop – a special vignette in each store – offers unique merchandise that supports this cause. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each item in the shop will be donated to fund breast cancer research at each of the Company’s five designated beneficiaries:

Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa
Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation
Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota
Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

The Pink Shop offers a special collection of over 20 items for men, women and children, the majority of which are exclusive to The Bon-Ton Stores, such as specially designed apparel by Breckenridge and Laura Ashley, a lunch tote, a spa collection, pet products, small leather goods by Rolfs and a pink ribbon pendant. Bonton.com will also offer ten exclusive breast cancer items that will be available for purchase year-round.

Through the special initiatives of its Charge Against Breast Cancer™ and its October Pink Shop, The Bon-Ton Stores are projecting that the donations, which are specifically used to support breast cancer research, will reach the $4 million mark this year.
