A national expert on the Sikh experience is scheduled to speak at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee about the Sikh Temple shootings in Oak Creek last August.
Gurinder Singh Mann, professor of religious studies and Kundan Kaur Kapany Chair of Sikh Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will speak Friday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. in Merrill Hall, room 131, 2512 E. Hartford Ave.
Mann’s research and writings focus on the evolution of Sikh institutions and the challenges facing the contemporary Sikh community. His talk, “From Stockton to Oak Creek: The Sikh Experience,” will explore what happened and why in the temple shootings.
The event, sponsored by the Religious Studies Student Organization at UWM, is free and open to the public.
