Sojourner Family Peace Center Receives 870 Books from Maid Brigade Book Drive

MILWAUKEE, WI – To boost children’s literacy and encourage reading among America’s youth, the local maid services company – Maid Brigade of Milwaukee– hosted a book drive in March collecting more than 800 books to benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center.

Founded in 2009, as a result of a merger between the Task Force on Family Violence and Sojourner Truth House, Sojourner Family Peace Center is dedicated to creating peaceful communities in which domestic respect and a life free from violence is the right of every woman, man and child.
Across the country, participating Maid Brigade franchises collected a total of 8,268 books that were donated to 36 different local organizations. Monetary contributions were also collected by Maid Brigade and donated to Reading is Fundamental, the nation’s largest children’s literacy non-profit.
