Southwest Airlines will take over AirTran Airways’ route from Milwaukee to New Orleans starting Jan. 6 as it continues to integrate AirTran into the Southwest brand, according to the airport’s monthly newsletter.
The switch brings Southwest’s total number of flights from General Mitchell International Airport to 36, with AirTran down to 14.
Southwest bought AirTran in 2011 and is converting AirTran to the Southwest brand. At Mitchell, Southwest joined AirTran at Concourse C in November.
