When we think of investing, most of the time money comes to mind, however you can invest money, time, and other things. One of the most overlooked investments is investing in each other so I want to show you how to invest in your children’s future.
Every parent wants their children to do well and every day you prepare them for the future. No parent is perfect, but you must do everything possible to be part of your child’s life. Here are a few ways to do this.
- A good night’s rest is essential for the growth of babies and children too. Our muscles repair themselves when we rest and getting the proper sleep will help your children focus better while in school, so make sure they rest well at night.
- A well-groomed child will be a productive child, so make sure to teach them about hygiene. Being clean is a wonderful feeling and if children are not clean, trust me they know. Make sure their clothes are ironed and clean also.
- Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because of its fuel. You need food fuel to be productive at school, work or even play. You will not get much done on an empty stomach, so make sure your children eat something before school. If you do not have the time to prepare a hot breakfast, give them a cereal bar, fruit, or frozen pre-made breakfast items they can microwave themselves.
- Talk to your children about everything, they pay attention to the news and listen to conversations at school, so let them get the correct information from you. Have a quick huddle in the morning to pray with them or do a forecast of the day. When they come from school do a debrief and let them do 80% of the talking and just listen. This will give them the confidence to come and talk to you about anything.
- Enjoy your children. After homework and dinner, play a game, sit around, and tell jokes or watch a family movie. We all need to unwind after a long day and so do children, do not let their days and weeks be filled with all work and no play.
Lastly, do not sleep on hugs and kisses, physical touch keeps you connected to your children and teaches them how to show affection in a safe place with their families. Hugs are warm and fuzzy, and kisses are an extra dose of love.
Warm regards,
