On March 16, 2021, a series of mass shootings occurred at three spas or massage parlors in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, GA. It turns out that 8 people were killed. Six of the 8 were Asian women, and one other person was wounded. A suspect, 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, was taken into custody later that day.
Some call this a hate crime. There’s been rumors of Asians being targeted since the pandemic started, but could this be one? I was in shock to hear about the incident as a whole. It made me think and confirmed how crimes can really happen anytime and anywhere.
I’m sure some people were in town, visiting, expecting to have the most relaxed time of their life and then BOOM. Someone starts shooting and killing people. That’s extremely traumatic and sad. What did those people do to deserve that? What state of mind was the shooter in?
Were there drugs involved? Why would someone do this. I mean a massage parlor is by far one of the most peaceful places you could ever experience. What really happened?
My heart is saddened for the families that lost loved ones that day.
