Though not many huge names have participated in Jackson’s challenge — which consists of signing this protest song — Nashville-based rapper Petty answered the call and said in a HuffPost Live interview Monday that his video has received tons of positive feedback.
“So far, it’s been support,” Petty told host Alyona Minkovski. “A lot of people that’s watched it, they like it, they post and they share it and tell people about it. I got very [little] bad feedback, but it really wasn’t anything major…I feel like more people should speak up, and a lot of artists aren’t doing that.”
A few notable rappers, including J. Cole, Nelly and Killer Mike, have shown support for protestors in wake of the events in Ferguson, Missouri and New York. Jackson, and Petty, hope to further that movement.
