WEST ALLIS, Wis. – July 29, 2020 – Wisconsin State Fair Park officials today announced another addition to State Fair Necessities, presented by U.S. Cellular, as the Wisconsin State Fair teams up with Hunger Task Force and Wells Fargo for a food donation drive on Thursday, August 6 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.“Giving back to the community on opening day of the Fair has been a long-standing tradition, and there is no better way to commemorate what would have been opening day of the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair than by offering this opportunity for people to donate non-perishable food items in the fight against food insecurity,” said Kathleen O’Leary, Wisconsin State Fair Park CEO. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with Hunger Task Force and Wells Fargo to keep this established tradition alive.”Donations can be brought to the State Fair Park U.S. Cellular Main Gate area, entering through Gate 7 off Kearney Street. The first 10,000 participants who donate four cans of peaches or pears will receive one free ticket to the 2021 Wisconsin State Fair. All participants who wish to receive their 2021 ticket must be present and are asked to stay in their vehicles to maintain social distancing.“Everyone at Hunger Task Force misses the fun and comradery of the Wisconsin State Fair, however, the Fair has a serious side as well: collecting food for people in need,” said Sherrie Tussler, Executive Director of Hunger Task Force. “Join us in continuing this giving tradition by offering canned peaches and pears at this new donation drive. Four Acts Return to 2021 State Fair Main Stage!
June 26, 2020 – Wisconsin State Fair Park Officials are excited to announce four rescheduled concerts for the 2021 Wisconsin State Fair, despite the cancelation of the 2020 State Fair due to COVID-19. The 2021 Wisconsin State Fair will run Thursday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 15 at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.Grammy-nominated Christian rock band Skillet will shake the Main Stage on opening night of the Fair, Thursday, Aug. 5. The band formed in 1996 and garnered a massive following behind soaring metal anthems and a relentless touring schedule. Their 2006 album “Comatose” spent 206 weeks on the Billboard Christian Music chart, with the title track winning the GMA Dove Award for Rock Song of the Year. Skillet’s newest release “Victorious” reached No. 1 on the Billboard U.S. Christian Albums chart and No. 3 on the Billboard U.S. Top Rock Albums chart.Colton Dixon and Ledger open the 7:30 p.m. show. Colton Dixon first gained notoriety during a Top 10 finish on Season 11 of American Idol and has since won two GMA Dove Awards for Best Rock/Contemporary Album (“A Messenger” and “Anchor”). Ledger is the solo alternative rock project of Skillet drummer Jen Ledger.
