Educational vendors will present their proposals for the restart of North Division High School on Saturday, December 18. The proposals will be presented at North Division, 1011 W. Center Street in two sessions – from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Community members are invited to attend either presentation.

Presenters will be in attendance from The Citadel Group and Mosaica Turnaround Partners. In each session handouts will be reviewed and audience ground rules will be explained.

The vendors will make their presentations before a 20-minute time period for questions and answers. The process will be repeated in the afternoon session.

Milwaukee Public Schools requested proposals from qualified education providers and/or school operators to develop, plan, and implement a proven high school model for up to 900 students in grades 9-12 in the North Division High School facility. MPS anticipates that the restart school will begin in the fall of 2011 with a 9th grade class of approximately 250 students.

The Three Choice enrollment process begins on January 10, 2011 and families interested in opting for the new school in the North Division facility may do so then.

After a review of the proposals, a recommendation will be made for a preferred provider.

The preferred provider will work with the MPS Administration to complete all required processes, including negotiations of a specific contract, prior to a recommendation to the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.

Specific contract details will be negotiated during this process. Approval of the provider and contract is the decision of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors. It is expected that this recommendation will be presented during the January Board cycle.

MPS is the largest public school district in the State of Wisconsin, serving more than 82,000 students. Direct media questions to Philip Harris in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at (414) 475-8902. Follow district news on Twitter @MilwaukeeMPS and online at
