NEW BERLIN, Wis. – Twelve workshops will be conducted this week to help area residents reduce future flood losses. Information will be provided about how to protect property with low-cost options to keep a home safe and protect against basement flooding.

Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are scheduling the workshops on the following dates, times and locations:

Tuesday, Oct. 19
10:00-11:00 a.m., 2:00-3:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m.

FEMA mitigation specialists will provide instructions on elevating electrical services and appliances, installing sewer back flow valves, cleaning up mold and mildew, removing and replacing drywall and insulation, channeling water away from the foundation and repairing with water-resistant materials.
