If you are like me , I have missed sports tremendously since the pandemic took place. Understandably the spread of the virus had dominated the news, and many events have taken a back seat to it or Bene cancelled. Remember the Atonement Lutheran girls team that was 22-0? Well they finished their season with more impressive wins, and accolades. On March 8, they became state champions, capping off a perfect 26-0 season! Some amazing numbers are worth noting such as, 20 of their wins were won by 20 or more points, wining in the single digits only one time. 12 of their wins even won by 40 or more points, Scoring as high as 73 in one match up! The girls have all been playing together since the 4th and 5th grades relying on chemistry, scoring averages from the starters as high as 15.3, and phenomenal coaching. Both the Head Coach and Assistant Coach are former Wisconsin Lutheran College basketball players, Taylor Chiladek (head) Kelli Johnson (assistant). They both agree that the most proud moment for them, Is the fact that all of the 11 students on the team boasted a 3.0 gpa or higher! Congratulations to these girls, as some currently consider high school choices.
