April 5th, 2022 was a night for the history books, another sweet victory occurred. Cavalier Johnson became the first African American Mayor of Milwaukee. His victory was celebrated around the world and this night will forever be remembered. The best thing about this victory is that even though we are in a constant battle for freedom and leadership in our city, Mayor Johnson was still able to make history.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s victory is for all of us and in fact during his acceptance speech he summoned our help and ideas to turn things around in our city. We all must come together, support and share our ideas so our community can grow stronger.
This is a wonderful time for African Americans to embrace who we are and be grateful for the victories we have experienced thus far and get ready because there is so much more to come. Also, last week Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first African American woman to earn a seat in the Supreme Court, the highest court in the Federal Judiciary in the United States.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s victory did not start last week, his journey started when he was born, and he was called for a time such as this. Challenging work, dedication and being under constant scrutiny is not easy to handle and he has said how he has made many sacrifices to carry out this goal, but he remained committed and determined to win.
We also have a purpose to fulfil, so we need to stay on course and remain focused and we will also have victories. Mayor Johnson’s victory should encourage you to be hopeful as you pursue your own goals and dreams. He is an example of what perseverance looks like.
I am confident in his leadership, and I trust his process in changing our city and giving us a new perspective on what family and stability looks like. He is going to be an example to many, and we will see change during his reign, and Milwaukee will show the world how you can make something out of nothing.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson, we will continue to support and follow you on your new journey, we will also be the best examples and make changes in our own home and community to help our city grow.
We celebrate you,
