As businesses have opened up some Americans have gone back to work, others have filed unemployment, and some have neither. What is that like? Well during the waiting process for unemployment, what’s meant to be a 30 day process, turns to months of waiting. The scare of contracting the disease, has kept many from going to work, while rent and bills pile up.
For the next several weeks, I am going to be outlining resources, and processes
that will help prevent you from being run over by the pandemic.
“Work is not an option how do you pay rent?”
“ I thought they passed a relief bill? I heard rental assistance was in the bill where is it?” Some of many questions asked as I interviewed various residents in Milwaukee county.
Here is how you apply, through the social development commission, funds from the pandemic bill have been allocated, and approved for the program by the common council. To apply you must visit there website with your personal information (social security , birthdate ect), as well as a 5 day notice or letter detailing your past due rent. The process is digital however, you will need to make the initial call, after that you will be contacted by a representative to finish your application. I hope this helps someone out, have a great week.
