As the number of vaccinated people increases around the world , including the city of Milwaukee, the mask mandate is set to expire on June 1st. The health ordinance requiring mask set by the CDC, was recently retracted by the department. May 13th is when the announcement was made, that fully vaccinated people no longer needed mask. As a result the original health order in Milwaukee, is ending two weeks prior to the original date of June 25th. This also meant that the limitations on gatherings, occupants and spacing is no knifed in effect. Mayor Tom Barrett who made the call the end on Tuesday said that,
“the CDC’s announcement spurred the city into rethinking its COVID-19 response.” That’s when we started the process of implementing expert advice to determine how the City of Milwaukee will move forward,” the mayor said.
Experts realized that some may still wear a a mask at their own comfort level, and others should respect that.
I have looked forward to this day personally, but understand others opinion on the matter. Enjoy the great weather this week, welcome to the last week of masking.
