Listen, I know these times are tougher than ever before. It seems like everything is happening all at once. If you’re life has been going anything like mine, you’ve lost loved ones, your loved ones lost someone, people you know have lost their jobs. You’ve heard the news about the official recession to come.
Looking at the news, we see the world still in shambles due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The global case number has exceeded 4 Million and US numbers are a little less than a third of that number.
It seems that the government is pushing a way to save the economy—meaning they are actively finding ways to approve businesses to open back up for business. People are “strategically planning” for how to live with this virus. Even citizens all over are speaking out and protesting that they open up businesses and at this time.
“The economy’s health is people’s wealth” Trump and other officials believe. They believe that if they don’t do something now, where not going to have an economy.
But does that matter more than the lives and health of others? Though the economy is failing, is opening up in the middle of this pandemic the right choice? I highly disagree.
Common sense tells me that if staying home is what’s going to save lives, everyone going out is going to kill lives. I believe opening up businesses at this time is borderline suicide.
Taking a look at a few cities that have partially opened back up, there numbers have spiked since the decision. Texas has gained over 7000 new cases since opening. States like Louisiana, Georgia, and Floridia have spiked to over 4700 new cases, 1800 of which happened between two weeks, and 125 plus deaths.
This is no surprise to me. It’s like 1 + 1 = 2. If we know we shut down to stop the spread, let’s continue with the goal to stop the Spread of the Coronavirus. Let’s not go against the grain here.
Instead I believe it’s more important for businesses to focus on how to monetize with circumstances being what they are. There is NO WAY around it. Maybe things need to be more automated. Maybe online are the best options. Maybe banks should pause the demand of payments. I’m not saying I have the answers but I can attest that opening up definitely is not the right thing to do.
