Alderman Michael J. Murphy invites residents from the Sherman Park area and from throughout the city to celebrate Earth Day by beautifying their neighborhood and visiting with their neighbors at the St. Catherine Community Center on Saturday, April 22.
“This is an excellent opportunity to get to know your neighbors while working together for a common cause,” Alderman Murphy said. “I invite everyone who calls the Sherman Park area their home to come out and participate in cultivating a healthy community.”
Coffee, treats and cleanup supplies will be available starting at 9:45 a.m., and volunteers will work from 10:00 a.m. to noon. A free lunch will be served at noon, and participants can gather, visit and peruse resource and discussion tables from noon to 2:00 p.m. Topics will include composting, urban gardening, cooking classes, murals and more, and St. Vincent de Paul will provide a drop-off truck for those who would like to donate household items. See the attached flyer for more information.
