Hey You! Happy Monday! We’re back at it again—doing the things—ALL THE THINGS. You know, taking care of your health, getting the kids ready for school, preparing for work and so on. It’s the top of the week and as always, the goal should be to rock this week.
It’s the first Monday of this short month of February and it is time to set the tone. If you’re looking to reach your goals, you know there’s lots of work to do. You probably have your list of tasks for the week already written out and you’re ready to make things count, which is precisely logical.
Only thing is, sometimes when working to reach your goals you have much adversity. You have new battles to fight weekly or even daily and it’s important to be equipped for the rumble properly. Let me ask you a question.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed in life as you’re working for your dream and ambitions—Like, you knew that it would take a lot of work to get where you want to be and you were working your plan but you didn’t seem to get where you expected to? Of course. We all get overwhelmed and frustrated at times with our results or the lack thereof.
Have you ever considered that you may be operating beyond your capacity. Capacity, by definition, is the maximum amount that something can contain and/or produce. It’s the line between what you can handle and what you can’t.
Truth be told sometimes we operate outside of our capacity and that’s why things don’t come together as planned. We weren’t meant for that. We have to be realistic with ourselves if we want to hit our goals. Going off on the deep end until we run ourselves to the ground is not a healthy choice. Taking on absolute ever task that needs to happen can work against you and not for you.
I remember Bishop TD Jakes saying, “So many people ask for God to enlarge their territory but they forget to ask God to enlarge their capacity.” Without knowing our capacity, things can spill over and fall out of place easily. Therefore it’s extremely important to find ways to enlarge your capacity before you increase the blessing.
Well, what should you do, you ask? I’ve found a few things that can help.
Building Up Your Capacity:
- Set a goal. In order to achieve success, you first need to identify what it looks like and set a timeline for when you’d like to achieve it.
- Ask for advice.
- Shift the way you prioritize.
- Seek out professional development opportunities.
- Ask God to increase your capacity.
- Charge out of your comfort zone by challenging the way things are.
- Put on your spiritual glasses.
You capacity is intangible but so real. It’s so easy to take on many tasks and never get anywhere. Operating beyond your capacity can truly become disappointment and that can lead to failure and giving up. So, don’t beat yourself up this week about what doesn’t get done. Put yourself in position to exceed! Prioritize properly and use your wisdom to get you through.
Hey and remember, YOU GOT THIS!
