Chance The Rapper, the Grammy Winning, Chicago artist scheduled a private meeting with the Illinois governor Rauner to discuss education funding and the $215 million set aside for the Chicago public school system. The governor vetoed $215M in funding for Chicago kids. According to Chance, the conversation between the two didn’t spark much optimism. Chance left the meeting with @GovRauner disappointed by his “vague answers”.
Twitter was rightfully proud of the rapper for standing up and striving to lift up the kids! Chance the Rapper vowed to keep fighting and said that he and the Republican Governor had exchanged numbers. Poor education makes finding non-criminal employment more difficult, crime and poor education both cluster around low-income, high-poverty neighborhoods, etc.
We applaud Chance! #ClapForEm
