A 43-year-old woman, by the name of Nicole Darrington-Clark, was charged on Thursday after stabbing two of her grandchildren and her own daughter. Killing her 18-month-old grandchild the California resident was found in her parked car behind a closed business building at 4:15 am last Tuesday.
According to The Colton Police Department in a news release, the stabbing had taken place the previous day, Monday, at an apartment complex.
The children’s mother, Gloria, managed to escape the attack. Running to the nearest neighboring apartment unit, occupied by tenant Tim Hill, her neighbor recalls her begging and pleading for help.
“At that time, Glory was hysterical and she just said, ‘Hey, can you go get my babies? Go get my babies,'” Hill told KTLA Tuesday. She thought she went back upstairs to finish off the kids.”
Hill did manage to get upstairs to the apartment only to find the 5 year old, identified by Hill as Arleya, and the 18-month-old with multiple stab wounds to her back.
“I searched the apartment, I went into the closet and she was in a corner of the closet shaking, petrified,” Hill said.
Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the triple stabbing but according to ABC News Nicole Darrington-Clark has a violent past.
DarrClark was sent to the psychiatric facility after being found not guilty by reason of insanity in the stabbing of her 14-year-old son and throwing her 10-year-old daughter out of a moving minivan in 2005.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported in 2007 that Darrington-Clark pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder in connection with both events.
Darrington-Clark managed to avoid police for a full day last week before being taken into custody. She is currently being held on $3.2 million bail.
