As we head out to the polls today many are anxious. It has been a long and ugly process. A great divide has been created in America. I have seen Facebook Friends get heated and ugly in exchanges. Twitter feuds have been the norm. There are people that are worried about one candidate not being trustworthy and involved in illegal activities while serving in office. There are people worried about the other candidate as being hateful, racist, sexist and unstable. This has been so much talk about this being the most important election in recent history. People are genuinely scared and worried.
I offer a few words to calm your hearts and minds and offer hope.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
