Self improvement is a topic in life that we could never discuss enough. I mean just because of the simple fact that there’s millions of distractions that come our way in life, in general. It’s so easy to get thrown off track. It’s easy to get lost in the wind. It’s a journey staying positive and progressing, but that doesn’t make it impossible.
To improve simply means to make or become better. However, to improve takes action. It takes intention. It takes patience. Most times it involves change. Change is not something that’s always an easy task. It really takes time.
The good thing is for a big change, many times it just take little habit changes. I often times think of my fitness journey and all the obstacles that come my way. But I’ve learned to take it one day at a time. I focus on making better decisions daily. That way I don’t stress myself out with the anxieties of the world.
But change and improvement doesn’t start with the physical by a long shot. It’s 90% mental. There’s different things you can do to and with your mind that will cause better and good results. I did some research on patrikedblad.com and found these great tips.
Do the gratitude snooze. The key to happiness is to want what you already have. So, instead of hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep, spend the first few minutes of your day in gratitude. Think about all the blessing in your life, big and small, that you tend to take for granted. That simple practice will help rewire your brain for positivity.
Do high-intensity interval training. Physical exercise isn’t just important for your health. New research has found that it’s also crucial for mental aspects such as your brain’s ability to learn. If you’re a busy person, I highly recommend the 7-minute workout. It’s challenging but effective and extremely time efficient.
Reinforce your goals. If you’re serious about accomplishing your long-term goals, you can’t state them once a year and then forget about them. You need to remind yourself of the direction you want to go every day. Turn your goals into brain tattoos by writing them down in a journal every single day.
Say no. A lot of people complain about not having enough time. But it’s not that we don’t have enough time that’s the problem — it’s that we waste so much of it. So, be protective of time. It’s either “hell yeah” or it’s “no”.
Ban ”victim speech.” Your words become your reality, so choose them wisely. Instead of saying “I can’t,” say “I won’t.” Instead of “I have to,” say “I’m going to.” Instead of “I don’t know,” say “I’ll figure it out.” Never speak of yourself as a victim, else you’ll become one.
