Did you ever have a reason to call the police for anything? If you did call how did your situation turn out? Was it a positive or negative interaction overall? The reason I am asking these questions is because of the tragic situation last week with the mother and daughter found dead in the car in Northridge Lake. We must remember right now this whole situation is still under active investigation with some facts still to come. But I would like to go over the facts as we know them up to his point. The mother called police and she was concerned about her daughter because she was suicidal. She continued her granddaughter was with her and the daughter had taken her car and wallet without her permission. The grandma said I do not think the sheriff took me seriously and wonders why there was no Amber Alert.
On Thursday, December 8, the police notified her the car was found in Northridge Lakes with the girls inside. The whole family is terribly upset and said more should have been done to locate them especially an Amber Alert. They said everyone is pointing fingers at others on what happened. You have at least three entities involved in this situation that includes MPD, the Sheriff and the Office of Emergency Management. Usually, a critical missing includes things like the person is suicidal, younger than 11 years-old, and severe medical condition among other items. The call was pounced between these agencies and was not managed by anyone. But remember I said appears because we do not know that for sure at this time.
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley said,” I am really interested in seeing what really happened and where the ball was dropped.” He continued the investigation is still going on, so we do not know if it was dropped at this time. Again, this is a very tragic situation that ended very badly. Just one thing I would like to point out about police service. If you call the police and are not happy with your response, call and ask to speak with a supervisor. This will usually be a sergeant. If that does not help the situation you can ask for the Lieutenant or during first shift the captain. You have a right to excellent quality service so remember that and, in the end, you can file a complaint with the department and/or the Fire and Police Commission.
