Sometimes in life, it seems like we are suppose to be perfect. Everything we see on tv and other media outlets show us perfection. And because of that, it’s easy to get caught up in an imaginary world where you feel you have to be perfect.
Let me be the one to tell you this is a lie! You do not have to be perfect. You don’t have to pretend to be either. That becomes overwhelming and extremely unhealthy. Attempting to live a life of perfection is attempting to live a lie.
Each and every one of us has things that we could work on. But guess what? We can only do our absolute best that we can and that’s it. Life and how you live it is all about perspective.
Here’s a few tips to help you in this thing called life:
Stop comparing yourself to others.
This is by far one of the worst things you could ever do. Comparing yourself to others will literally keep you miserable. You’re always going to be worried about others instead of focusing on you and your personal growth. Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being inspired by others. But NEVER compare your life’s journey to others.
Mistakes are just learning opportunities.
Everybody makes mistakes. I mean everybody! You will never come across a champion who’s never lost in anything. It takes many losses to win most times. Losses aren’t losses. They’re just learning experience. When you mess up, don’t be angry. Use it as a moment to grow. Figure out how you can fix the issue and begin to do better.
Stop putting yourself down.
You have to begin to focus on positive self-talk. Pointing out all your flaws or often times using phrases like “I suck” “I’m always messing up” “I’ll never get it right” are literally mind damaging. That’s the exact way to create limits. Your mind listens to your thoughts and self talk. What you put in is what comes out. So begin to focus on the good. Learn to give yourself compliments. Celebrate you. Find the positives in any situation. Promote self growth, now mental abuse.
