Milwaukee Recreation will host the second annual Winter Wonder Woods event at Hawthorn Glen (1130 N. 60th St.) on December 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 5:00pm – 8:30pm. All are invited to take in the festive sights and sounds of the Glen while enjoying a winter-themed hike and light display.
Hawthorn Glen will be decorated with over 25,000 lights that will line a quarter mile of trails (map will be provided). In addition to the lights, the trail will feature various holiday and nature-themed displays that highlight winter holidays celebrated throughout December. The trail will also include a selfie station, hiking Santa, educational facts, and more.
This year, due to COVID-19, participants will need to pre-register for a 30-minute session in order to take the tour. Participants are asked to arrive at their scheduled times to ensure they can easily move through the trail within each 30-minute time frame. Additionally, face coverings are required to be worn by guests and physical distancing measures will be in place. Please note, parking is extremely limited at Hawthorn Glen and parking on 60th St. will not be permitted.
New this year, small groups are invited to rent the Holly House at Winter Wonder Woods. The Holly House is a private house for groups of up to five (5) to rent and enjoy a private fire after walking the trails at Winter Wonder Woods. Rental will include a tasty treat, hot chocolate or cider, as well as optional games for the small groups to enjoy. Cost is $5 per 30-minute session.
The event costs $3/person and children ages 2 and under are free. Pre-register online at mkerec.net/wonderwoods or call 414.467.6050 for more information.
