As Thanksgiving approaches and families prepare to travel, key questions must be considered. Who’s making the turkey? Who is making the dressing? Desserts and other items. No matter the answer the holidays are a time for bonding and being thankful. Falling on November 28th this year, which is later than usual there is actually a story behind it.
Back in 1939, President Roosevelt changed the traditional day from the 4th Thursday, till the 2nd to last. An odd calendar year was the blame, because there were 5 Thursdays that month. He switched it as a way to help retailers, in a effort to get more time in between holidays to sale to consumers. Most did not like the move so, a year later a bill was passed stating that Thanksgiving would fall on the 4th Thursday regardless if it is the last.
Some credit these events with giving birth to The everyone’s favorite shooing craze, Black Friday shopping. Enjoy your week and holiday everyone, be nice to people this is typically the hardest times for certain individuals.
