The 2020 Wheelin’ at Westlawn event will take place on Friday, July 17 at the Westlawn Gardens Playground Pavilion (located on N. 62nd St. and W. Custer Ave.), Alderman Cavalier Johnson said.
Bicyclists can bring in their bicycle and receive a wide variety of services, including filling up tires, fixing a flat tire, oiling a bike chain and other minor adjustments. The free bicycle tune-up day is part of the work put forth by the Westlawn Partnership for a Healthier Environment.
“Biking is a great way to save money and reduce air pollution while having fun,” Alderman Johnson said. “I encourage residents to check out this community resource and take advantage of the free services provided by Westlawn Partnership for a Healthier Environment.”
Other sponsors for the free bicycle tune-ups include the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Bicycle and Motorcycle Engineering Research Lab and DreamBikes for staffing the tune-ups, and to Milwaukee’s Choice Neighborhood Initiative, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing.
