Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. is inviting residents to his inaugural Back to School Festival, which will be held (rain or shine) at Indigenous People’s Park, 7301 W. Courtland Ave. on Sunday, August 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This festival includes a number of activities for children, including a bounce house, a bike raffle, a live DJ, free hot dogs and burgers (while supplies last) and much more. There will also be free hair braiding and haircuts available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that parents will need to sign a waiver if they would like their children to receive free hair braiding or haircuts.
There will also be resources available for parents returning their children to school, including a giveaway of free bookbags and school supplies (while supplies last), health screenings and opportunities to connect with members of the Milwaukee Health Department.
“The Back to School Festival is a great opportunity for parents to make sure their kids are ready to return to school, and for their kids to have fun at the same time,” Alderman Chambers said. “I encourage anyone interested to stop by and take advantage of the resources and activities at the festival.”
