Fans of live music, dance and drama can enjoy all three at Indaba Nights, a brand-new outdoor summer concert series. Taking to the stage in August are Christopher’s Project, the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, Adekola Adedapo & Friends, the Milwaukee Black Theater Festival and more. Performances take place at the Indaba Band Shell, 2450 W. North Ave., on Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The band shell, located at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care-Bucyrus Campus, offers a covered, wheelchair-accessible audience space, plus lawn seating. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will also be at the venue. The series runs every Wednesday through August 25.

6:30 Three Tenors MKE, from the Skylight Music Theatre, features a trio of Milwaukee’s most exciting male singers. Andrew Varela, Tommy Hahn and Tim Rebers are joined by pianist Maggie Rebers in this concert of solos, duets and trios.

7:30 Adekola Adedapo & Friends perform straight-ahead jazz with an African/Latin flavor. Joining this renowned vocalist are Cecilio Negron Jr. on congas, Omar Phillips on trap drums, Neal Davis on guitar, and bass player Joey Sanchez. Bring your dancing feet and enjoy the groove!

6:30 Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra spotlights talented students who are the future of jazz in Milwaukee and the world. Buckle up for jazz favorites, performed on trumpet, keyboard, bass and drums.

7:30 Danceworks Performance MKE and Danceworks On Tap team up with guest artist Cyenthia Vijayakumar, a classical Indian dancer. Together, they’ll present a variety of rhythmic styles—from a swing beat to rocking 4/4 time.
August 18:
6:30 Milwaukee Black Theater Festival’s Youth Night will feature youth artists from the Milwaukee Rep, First Stage, Next Act and other local theater organizations, celebrating and uniting youth performers in one location. Enjoy music, poetry, theater and more!
August 25:
6:30 Christopher’s Project delivers a smooth, melodic infusion of upbeat keyboards, drum, bass and sax. Christopher Pipkins and his jazz ensemble master a wide variety of styles for listeners young and old.
Performers from the Skylight Music Theatre, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and Danceworks are presented in partnership with the United Performing Arts Fund’s UPAF Connect.
A mobile vaccination tent, operated by the Wisconsin National Guard, will be on site to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine and answer questions about its effectivity and safety. In observance of COVID-19 safety guidelines, guests who haven’t been vaccinated are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing on the grounds.
