More than 300 guests, including corporations, dignitaries, civic leaders, public officials, educational leaders, and others from across the state recently descended on the Milwaukee Art Museum for the 8th annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball.
The event helps to raise money to provide support to deserving students in order to stay in college, earn a degree and prepare for success in the workplace, as well as UNCF HBCU’s.
“By supporting UNCF, you are building opportunities, even supporting a future mayor of Milwaukee,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
“UNCF is a lifesaver and a dream builder. UNCF scholarships give minority youth a chance to move forward in life with purpose, relevance, and joy. With higher education and a diploma, they can forge a career path. And if we’re lucky, come home to Milwaukee to do for others what was done for them.”
The UNCF Masked Award was presented to Dr. Valerie Daniels-Carter and Alderwoman Milele Coggs as esteemed honorees who exemplify the highest levels of dedication and support of UNCF’s mission, work, and achievement toward higher education.
FOX6 TV anchors Mary Stoker-Smith and Aaron Maybin were the ball’s emcees. The evening included a reception, elegant dining, student testimonials, and entertainment featuring ‘The Midnight Sun.’
