Wednesday’s Event is First in a Series of “Chats with the Chairwoman”
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson will moderate a panel discussion Wednesday night at 7:00pm on the topic of “The Unique Challenges of Being a Black Leader.”
Wednesday’s chat will cover such topics as the recent rise in death threats against and harassment of Black leaders, racist micro-aggressions at work and in the community, and the barriers and obstacles to elected office and positions of influence facing Black leaders.
Several well-known Black leaders will join Chairwoman Nicholson on Wednesday, including:
- Angela Lang, Executive Director, Black Leaders Organizing Communities
- Wes Bellamy, Author and former Vice Mayor of Charlottesville, NC
- Wanda Montgomery, President, Village of Brown Deer
- Vaun Mayes, Community Task Force, Milwaukee
- Arnitta Holliman, Speaker, Counselor, Coach, Educator, and Advocate
- David Bowen, WI State Representative (District 10)
Wednesday night’s Chat with the Chairwoman is the first is a three-part series of online conversations with community leaders that Chairwoman Nicholson will host this fall.
