Breast Cancer Awareness month is in October, but I had a tugging in my heart to talk about it today. This disease is running rampant, and we need to be intentional about breast cancer prevention methods. With early detection there is over a 90% survival rate so, working on a few habits we all have will only help us stay healthy.
Diet and exercise are key, and I am constantly on this journey trying to do everything I can to stay healthy and exercise. It is not easy, but I try to do better day after day. Make sure you get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Also, prepare healthier meals that include green vegetables, beans, fruits, and whole grains.
An Annual Mammogram is suggested for ages 40 and over, however some women get tested starting at age 25. I believe at any age it is ok to check on your own body any time you want. Remember early detection is key and checking at any age is your choice. Make regular doctor visits normal and get to know your doctor so you can feel comfortable asking any questions needed, to get a full understanding of how your body works.
Spirituality is a sense of connection to something bigger than us. It is where you have a desire to know about creation, life, and death. It also is what you rely on for hope, healing, and getting answers to things you cannot get anywhere else. Like authoring this article, it was in my spirit to write it, I find solace in the Holy Bible, and the scripture “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds” (Jeremiah 30:17) NLT, is what I stand on to overcome illnesses.
Be optimistic and educate yourself, to get more help with breast cancer prevention methods or for more information on this disease go to your local library and pick up a few books or visit your local bookstore to buy books that helps with diet and exercise. Make this a “WE” thing and include the other women in your lives because “each one teaches one.”
After reading this article schedule your annual mammogram, get some books on this subject, and tell at least one woman in your life about Breast Cancer Awareness and what you have learned about it and ask her to pass this message on to other women. I am praying for each reader, her family, and friends to have victory over this disease, and that you have the information and care needed to stay healthy and find a cure, if not for the world yet, for yourself.
