[MILWAUKEE, WI]– The Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition is leading the efforts for a city-wide Covid-19 vigil in collaboration with the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee, MICAH, Hyatt Pharmacy, Pastors United, the NAACP Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Council of Churches, and many more sponsors.
The Covid-19 vigil will be held in Washington Park on Sunday, July 17th from 2 pm to 6 pm. The vigil will be an opportunity for solidarity, unity and resilience as we reflect on the effects the pandemic has had on our families and communities.
We will be joined by Governor Tony Evers, and Congresswoman Gwen Moore for this milestone event acknowledging the one million lives lost to Covid over the last 2.5 years. 15,000 of those were from Wisconsin. The pandemic has also highlighted the health and social inequities and the misunderstandings around vaccinations.
The event will include an interfaith prayer service, poetry readings, music by local choirs, Covid-19 informational resources, a commemoration exhibit, activities for children and food trucks.
