Event will celebrate scholars with a goal of raising $50,000 for Milwaukee higher education support programs
MILWAUKEE, WI – This Thursday night, College Possible Milwaukee will host a live-streamed fundraiser and celebration of the Class of 2021. The one-hour event is free and open to the public and will be co-hosted by College Possible Milwaukee’s Executive Director, Kellie J. Sigh, and Dynamic Events owner, David Caruso.
The program celebrates college graduates, Ja’Lia Butler and Ia Thao, and a high school graduate, Bawi Kil Dawt Nun Par, who will join in a conversation about what it means to be a first-generation college student, what has driven them to persist through the pandemic, and the role that College Possible has played.
“At College Possible, we are committed to upholding our message of hope and possibility in the face of this school year’s challenges,” said Kellie J. Sigh. “Let this event serve as a reminder and celebration of what is possible for Milwaukee’s youth when they are provided with equitable access and equal opportunities.”
The annual Pat Wilmeth Award will be presented to The Michael and Billie Kubly Family, Molly Fritz, and The Charles E. Kubly Foundation. This award honors the spirit of long-time College Possible supporter Patricia Wilmeth. Pat’s commitment to higher education, to students and to helping those less fortunate than she has had a long-lasting impact both on our organization and throughout the greater Milwaukee area.
Community supporter Grady Crosby, Vice President Public Affairs, Chief Diversity Officer and President, Johnson Controls Foundation, will be the keynote speaker. “The reason the word ‘possible’ is so important is because it really speaks to the future, what can happen. It is a word of hope.” Crosby said, “I know this organization is going to continue to transform possible, into probable, into likely.”
The Dream Big Dinner will be produced by Plum Media and live-streamed at 7 pm on Thursday, April 22. The event is free and open to the public. Those purchasing a VIP ticket will receive a specially curated thank you bag showcasing Black-owned local businesses. Donations raised through this dinner will directly support College Possible Milwaukee programming that helps area students achieve college readiness.
