Free refreshments offered Friday mornings in August.
Looking for a new route for your daily walk? To combat social isolation during the ongoing pandemic, St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care is inviting the community to walk the landscaped pathways at its Bucyrus Campus, 2450 W. North Ave.
Community members can walk seven days a week during daylight hours; those coming on Friday mornings in August can enjoy Free Refreshment Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28. On Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., walkers will hear R&B and hits from the ’60s and ’70s played by DJ Michelle Aldridge., also known throughout Milwaukee as Lady Dee Jai, on the Indaba Band Shell. Her show will be livestreamed on St. Ann Center’s Facebook page.
Stop at the “Tiki Hut” gazebo just west of the building (enter on North 26th Street) to pick up a drink and a healthy snack. Information will also be available about St. Ann Center’s world-renowned day programs for children, frail elders and adults with disabilities.
Visitors must wear face coverings and observe social distancing from those not in their household, staying 6 feet away, to comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Please be aware the fenced-in playground equipment is for the nonprofit organization’s childcare participants only, and is not open to the public.
The paved walkways, suitable for strollers or wheelchairs, on the Bucyrus Campus’ 7.5-acre grounds cover one-third-mile, providing a safe and inviting place for people of all ages and abilities to get some exercise.
“We want neighborhood residents to know we are here for you,” said John Jansen, Vice President of Grants & Community Engagement. “Please come and use our outdoor walkway to get some fresh air and exercise during these difficult times.”
